I can barely contain myself, I actually own some Spectrum brushes!
It was so difficult to decide on what ones to purchase first, especially when I want them all. But the website helped when lots of sets were sold out – but not these beauties. ‘The Bomb Shell’ was only recently released by Spectrum & after all the reviews I’ve read & pictures I’ve seen, purchasing was easy!
So I purchased mine of the Spectrum website for €89.20/£79.99/$97.86. I personally find this fantastic value, you’re getting 12 brushes, both face & eyes. They are all handmade – seriously think of the time, effort & love that goes into each & every brush! But most important to me they are cruelty free, yes these beauties are even Vegan registered, so that means NO animal are harmed in the making of these brushes! I honestly couldn’t have more respect for this company if I tried, their morals as well as attention to detail & quality is second to none.
Plus purchasing this beautiful set you’re also getting the most stunning bag – A holographic shell shaped bag, with rose gold zip & details, detachable chain making it ideal as handbag or as a brush holder. Inside a pretty sky blue lining adds to the appeal & really compliments the brushes. Ideal for any mermaid!
Okay so about the brushes, this set is finished in a blush, hot pink & rose gold colour scheme, so complimentary of each other. All brush heads are the same full sized ones but these handles are slightly shorted. So ideal for traveling or your handbag. It contains 5 face brushes, as well as 7 of their best selling brow, eyes & lip brushes.
(A quick guide to Spectrum brushes: A – Application B – Blending & Buffing C– Contouring)
So starting with the face brushes:
A00, Luxe Powder – soft, densely packed large brush (the largest head brush of the whole range) means it picks up product well, ideal for translucent powder or bronzer. Seriously though, it’s just so soft!
C03, Tulip Powder – Structuring your face just became easy, the ultimate selfie preparing tool. Can be used with cream & powder products, its perfectly tapered tip makes contouring (hairline) or highlighting (cheek bones, bridge of the nose or even brow bone) easy yet flawless.
A02, Angled Foundation – so this is new & softer, it makes for easy application of foundation, the densely packed bristles work well with cream & liquid products, brilliantly making product go further, as well as giving a heavier coverage. This brush is ideal for cream contouring, as the angled edge gives precision. So I’ll be a sculpted mermaid goddess in no time!
C02, Flat Top Contour – perfect for precise blending & buffing of contour, can be used with cream liquid & powder product. This brush makes it possible to build & then flawlessly blend out the contour to make it almost natural looking, nothing worse than looking like a tiger when it’s no longer Halloween.
A05, Precision Blush – repeat after me: ‘its always about looking natural!’, so this brush makes highlighting & shading of the face a fast & easy process. You can use as little product as you like, or even build it up. It makes adding colour to your face even more fun.
(Photo to come.. sorry!)
Now onto the brow, eyes & lip brushes:
B05, Luxe Blender – according to Spectrum this brush has a number of advised ways of use: creating super blended eye looks, as well as buffing precise contour (especially around the nose), to highlight the brow bone, or even blending in concealer. This brush is a real multi functional beauty, a true ‘must have’ in any makeup bag!
A07, Colour Applicator – the stubby shape makes for great application of colour while the bristles make blending easy. If you’re a fan of bright pigmented shades or smokey eyed looks you’ll love this brush.
B06, Tall Tapered Blender – a popular blending brush makes creating endless looks possible. From soft to smoky this brush builds & blends colour perfectly.
A12, Fluffy Pencil – fine detailing brush that gets in all those little spots, add depth, highlighting, as well as blending & smoking out lash lines.
A13, Short Smudge – to get a soft yet smudged lash line this brush applies both powder & cream shadows brilliantly. The bristles are feathered so building colour to intensify your look as much as you like is easy.
A14, Winger Definer – it’s all about those brows but what I love most is that it’s a multipurpose brush: so you can use it to fill in your brows with gel/powder/even wax or to get a defined eye as it creates a stunning flick using gel liner.
A15, Lip Liner – Ideal lip brush, flat, yet firm bristles that makes defining & filling lips easy, the tapered end makes for a precise finish.
Seriously I could chat on about these brushes, the company & its stunning products for a couple of 100 words, I just love everything about them! So what about you – Do you love Spectrum products?
